Case study - canada house, trafalgar square

Barr & Grosvenor were contracted through Mansell Construction Services to replicate two existing entrance lanterns at the Canadian High Commission.  A new entrance was being created off Trafalgar Square to replace one originally on the building and the original lantern detailing was required.  An existing lantern was removed from site so that its components could be accurately copied.

New components were cast using the originals as patterns before being dry assembled in our workshop.  New lantern globes were fabricated from steel profiles and cast brass.  A Midland-based glass bending company supplied the new glazing.  Fitting the lanterns on site proved challenging due to their height.
